The University of Saint Francis is expanding its Crown Point campus.
College officials will break ground on its $7 million building addition on Sept. 18. The college said the project will add 19,000 square feet of academic space to its current operation at 12800 Mississippi Parkway and will double the size of the university’s existing Crown Point footprint.
More than half of the funds needed for the project have been raised, college officials said. This included a major gift from Franciscan Alliance.
“We are thrilled to begin this project, which will expand our USF Crown Point academic programs and fill a need for additional quality healthcare professionals in Northwest Indiana,” said Rev. Dr. Eric Albert Zimmer, USF president. “We look forward to this continued partnership with Franciscan Alliance to benefit the community.”
University officials expect enrollment to double in Crown Point. There were 219 students enrolled at USF Crown Point during its 2019-20 academic year.
College officials said the Crown Point building addition is expected to be ready for use by its 2021-22 school year.
The University of Saint Francis also has a campus in Fort Wayne where 2,249 students were enrolled for 2019-20.
