A $30 million investment by Sullair at its Michigan City operations has led to expanded manufacturing capacities and 25 new full-time jobs.

The company, which produces air compressors, marked the first anniversary of the competition of its 80,000 square-foot fabrication shop, which was finished in February 2021. Representatives said the project was its largest capital expenditure ever in Michigan City.

“With the global supply chain issues impacting the manufacturing industry, the expansion of our Michigan City facility could not have come at a better time,” said John Randall, president and CEO of Sullair. “It has provided us with more flexibility in how we operate our business in this ever-changing environment and enables us to better serve our channel partners and customers.”

The expansion follows Sullair and Hitachi investing more than $16 million to upgrade its Michigan City-based rotor shop equipment. Since its founding in 1965, Sullair has designed and manufactured its rotors and air end assemblies in Michigan City.

“We’ve been a part of the Michigan City community for more than 55 years, and this investment planted our roots even deeper,” Randall said.

Sullair’s Michigan City campus produces air compressors for construction and industrial applications. The company also manufactures components such as air ends used in oil and gas applications worldwide.
