A new one-time grant program seeks to jumpstart area festivals and related community events to bring visitors back to the Region.
The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority has created a one-time grant program to assist communities to attract visitors. The grant is for tourism related projects including festivals, events, signage, and sporting event bids.
Municipalities can request up to $20,000 for a tourism related project. Applications are open until Sept. 30. Tourism projects include festivals, events, sports tournaments as well as wayfinding signage.
“Our communities have faced a number of challenges this last year and supporting local events and sporting events promotes economic growth,” said Brent Brashier, vice chairman of the board of directors for the South Shore CVA and owner of DOC’s Smokehouse and Craft Bar in Dyer. “Tourism is one of the quickest ways to stimulate the economy as well as enhance each community’s quality of place.”
