HAMMOND – The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority has announced theme winners from the 2012 Write a Theme contest. The contest is held annually in conjunction with the ‘A Christmas Story’ Comes Home exhibit, and pays homage to Ralphie’s theme requesting a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas.

Hailey Robbins, 5, of Buchanan Mich., was winner of the 9 and under category with her theme asking for a Monster High Doll with pink hair and a baby doll carriage.

Local aspiring musician Lukasiewicz, 13, of Highland, wrote about her desire for a guitar. Lukasiewicz believes music can change the world by bringing inspiration and happiness to others.

The 19 and older category’s winner is Dawn Carden, 33, of Gary. Her theme asked for something for her family. After tragedy struck the family with a robbery and a serious family injury, Carden’s children’s Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 were stolen, and though she tried, Carden was unable to replace them. Despite other items being stolen from the home, Carden simply wanted her children to be able to enjoy their games again.
