MICHIGAN CITY – Rick Soria has been named vice chancellor and dean of the Michigan City campus of Ivy Tech Community College Northwest.
Soria is an accredited mortician and a law school graduate of Valparaiso University. He joined Ivy Tech in 2002 and created the first mortuary science program.
“We did a nationwide search and looked at about 60 candidates before whittling it down to about 20,” said J. Guadalupe Valtierra, chancellor of Ivy Tech Northwest. He said after cutting the number of applicants, the decision to go with Soria was the best choice for the college.
