SOUTH BEND – Performing at the Morris Performing Arts Center on February 11 at 8 p.m., the South Bend Symphony Orchestra will celebrate an evening of the most popular Broadway musicals from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s. Led by guest conductor Gerald Steichen, the South Bend Symphony Orchestra will bring unforgettable favorites from Oklahoma, The Sound of Music, The King and I, and South Pacific.
The South Bend Symphony Orchestra will feature two Broadway stars, Christiane Noll and William Michals, and multiple community choirs to bring the adventure, romance, and magic of these blockbuster shows to life once again. Michals recently appeared on Broadway in the landmark revival of South Pacific and is a well-known performer in many of New York’s finest theaters. Noll, a Tony award-nominated performer, most recently starred on Broadway in a revival of Ragtime and is a frequent guest soloist for symphonies across the nation. Steichen, one of America’s most versatile conductors, is an expert in much of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s music; so much so that he will be leading the upcoming national tour of The King and I. He is currently the Music Director of the Macon Symphony Orchestra, and has served as Principal Pops Conductor of three different symphonies over the last twenty years.
The concert is made possible through the generosity of Series Sponsor KeyBank and Concert Co-Sponsors The Commodore Corporation and LaSalle Bristol.
