Smooth Jazz at South Shore will be 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, in Washington Park in Michigan City .
This year's lineup includes:
Oli Silk, a London-born keyboardist who began playing at age 11. He has played in a variety of shows and theater productions. He took steps toward jazz in the late 1990s as one half of the duo, “Sugar and Silk.”
Tom Braxton, a saxophonist and composer who is a seasoned performer. His distinctive sound is a mix of jazz, Latin, funk and R&B.
Jeff Lorber is a composer, producer and keyboardist who has performed for more than three decades. The Philadelphia native specializes in contemporary jazz but also is comfortable playing pop, jazz, R&B and blues.
The Urban Jazz Coalition has performed across the country for 14 years and has shared the stage with jazz legends David Sanborn, Kirk Whalum, Rick Braun and George Duke.
U-NAM was born and raised in Paris and began playing guitar at 12. He studied at CIM in Paris, Europe ‘s first school for jazz. He has played throughout Europe and the United States and is known as an innovative player in instrumental music, soul and R&B.

Proceeds from the annual concert will benefit Sand Castle Shelter for Children and Families, Stepping Stone Shelter for Abused Women and the LaPorte County Chapter of American Red Cross.
The Northwest Indiana Small Business Development Center is looking for nominations for its 2010 Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards. Nominations are being accepted through Aug. 2.
Categories include Small Business Person of the Year, Entrepreneurial Success, Small Business Advocate of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Minority Small Business Person of the Year and Women in Business Champion of the Year. Lake Area United Way ‘s annual Day of Caring will be Friday, Aug. 27 or Saturday, Aug. 28. The event celebrates volunteerism in the community. Groups and organizations are encouraged to make a difference in their community by forming a team and picking a project to complete at one of the 70 United Way agencies in Northwest Indiana .
Each county hosts a breakfast for volunteers beginning at 8 a.m. In Lake County teams will gather at Campagna Academhy in Schereville on Aug. 27, and in Porter County they will gather at Strongbow Inn in Valparaiso .
