RDC Supports Economic Development in Starke County

“The Regional Development Company is a proud supporter of the economic development efforts by the Starke County Economic Development Foundation,” said Erica Dombey, president and executive director of the RDC. “We have a long tradition of giving back to the communities of Northwest Indiana to assist with job creation and growth. The contribution of $1,000 this year is evidence of that commitment. We particularly enjoy our involvement in their annual Manufacturing Day event, as we see firsthand from our borrowers the need for a skilled labor workforce in Northwest Indiana.” RDC Supports Economic Development in Starke County.

The RDC administers the US Small Business Administration 504 loans. The SBA 504 loan program was created as an economic development tool to create jobs and assist small businesses in creating capital investment in commercial real estate and equipment. The program allows businesses to put as little as 10% down on the purchase of owner occupied commercial property. The program is often used in conjunction with other local and state incentives to locate businesses to the Northwest Indiana region.

“In order to correct the impression that there are no jobs in industry or that those jobs are dirty and to create an awareness of the types of skills needed in modern industry, the Starke County Economic Development Foundation every year celebrates Manufacturing Day,” said Executive Director Charles Weaver. “Seventh graders from throughout Starke County meet with industries, learn about the skills and education required for good jobs in industry and of the myriad of products produced in Starke County. The Regional Development Company has graciously continued to support Starke County Manufacturing Day enabling today's students to become tomorrow's producers and leaders.”
