The Porter County Animal Shelter has announced that their 17th Annual Be Kind To Animals Pet Care Expo originally scheduled on Saturday, April 25 has been RESCHEDULED for September 5th at the Porter County Expo Center.

“The dog flu epidemic that has spread into northwest Indiana poses a health risk for many of our animals and their wellbeing had to be our paramount concern,” said Toni Bianchi, Shelter Consultant. “After consulting with local veterinarians, we decided that having a pet friendly event at this time would not be in the best interests of the animals and their owners.”

Vendors who had rented a booth for Saturday’s event are asked to call the Porter County Expo Center at (219) 464-0133 as soon as possible to confirm their availability for the September 5th date. Additionally, the staff at the Porter County Expo Center will be attempting to contact those vendors by phone or email over the next few days.
