PNW promotes faculty for next academic year

Purdue University Northwest's board of trustees promoted 10 faculty members starting in the 2023-24 academic year, effective Aug. 14.

“I congratulate these remarkable faculty colleagues for their outstanding contributions in learning, discovery and engagement, as well as their dedication to the entire PNW community,” said Kenneth Holford, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, in a press release. “We look forward to their future accomplishments through academic research and impactful change for PNW and our region.”

To be promoted to associate professor, faculty must attain tenure through accomplishments and the propensity for continues growth. Professors must achieve “a significant record in learning, discovery and engagement.”

PNW faculty members promoted to the rank of professor:

  • John Durocher, integrative human health
  • Tae-Hoon Kim, computer information technology and graphics
  • Assen Kokalov, Spanish
  • Beth Vottero, nursing

PNW faculty members promoted to the rank of associate professor:

  • Yun (Tom) Liu, mechanical engineering
  • Ying Luo, computer information technology and graphics
  • Quamar Niyaz, electrical and computer engineering
  • Serdar Turedi, business analytics
  • Wubeshet Woldemariam, civil engineering

PNW faculty member promoted to the rank of clinical associate professor:

  • John T. Eagan, accounting
