Whiting Mayor Joe Stahura, John Haynes (Clerk-Treasurer), Stephanie Madison (co-founder), Kathleen Ulm (co-founder) and Angela Moore, Director of Marketing and Community Outreach at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, presented a donation of $17,700 to Tony Andello, director of the Cancer Resource Centre. For the past four years, the cofounders have coordinated Paint the Town Pink, a month-long City-wide event held in May to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and treatment. To date, $40,000 has been raised. Activities included a Breast Cancer Walk, fundraisers at schools and businesses, and a “Crush Cancer” fundraiser during Car Cruise Night.
