The Small Business Administration estimates more than 600,000 new businesses open annually around the country.
Northwest Indiana and the Elkhart-South Bend area have experienced their respective share of new business openings in recent weeks. Here are some of the new business launches and expansion announcements provided to Northwest Indiana Business Magazine:
Twisted Sugar opened a new location at 10470 Broadway in Crown Point. A second shop is planned in Valparaiso, which is expected to open in October. The Crown Point location is managed by Megan Thompson, a Crown Point native. Twisted Sugar is based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Hopebridge Autism Therapy Centers has opened a new location at 551 Eastport Centre Drive in Valparaiso. The company has 19 other locations around Indiana. The Valparaiso site will be staffed by more than 50 people, which the company says will ensure each child receives one-on-one, personalized therapy. Hopebridge was founded in 2005 and operates more than 100 centers in 12 states.
Endodontic & Periodontic Associates Ltd., a multi-specialty group dental practice, doctor-owned and caring for patients for more than five decades, has opened a new office in Crown Point at 11045 Broadway, Suite A. The practice’s other Indiana locations are in Dyer, Valparaiso and Michigan City. The practice also has five locations in Illinois in Homewood, Oak Lawn, Orland Park, Joliet, and Bourbonnais.
Junk King, which works to recycle the discarded items it is hired by clients to remove, has opened a new location in South Bend, operated by Marc Shudnow. The California-based franchise company was founded in 2005 and has more than 150 locations across North America including four in Indiana. Shudnow is an Army veteran and is an experienced entrepreneur.
