MERRILLVILLE – Methodist Hospitals Southlake Campus has introduced the Endobronchial Ultrasound, the latest diagnostic technology for lung cancer and other pulmonary diseases.

Electromagnetic Navigation Bronchoscopy uses GPS minimally invasive technology to locate, enable biopsy and plan treatment for a lesion deep in the lung. The EBUS device is an emerging technique which offers a more precise, minimally invasive way of assessing a patient’s lymph nodes and determining if lung cancer has spread to other parts of the body.

Among those on hand to introduce the technology was President and CEO Ian McFadden; Dr. B.H. Barai, medical director of oncology; and pulmonologists Hakam Safadi, Olusegun Apata, Sharon Harig and Charles Rebesco.
