MERRILLVILLE – Northern Indiana organizations that are promoting clean vehicle technologies and alternative fuels will be featured during the 2012 annual meeting of South Shore Clean Cities Inc., a nonprofit organization sponsored through a U.S. Department of Energy program.
South Shore Clean Cities Inc. officials have invited business owners, nonprofit organization leaders and community members to join them in speaking about the benefits of the program's success during the meeting. Mark Stoermann, project manager at Fair Oaks Farms, is scheduled to speak about a group of 10 Indiana dairy farms using biogas to power their milk trucks. Kelly Carmichael, director of environmental policy and permitting at the Northern Indiana Public Service Company, is scheduled to speak on new project updates.
The meeting will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. CST Feb. 14 at Avalon Manor Banquet Center, 3550 E. U.S. Route 30, Merrillville.
Officials at Legacy Environmental Services Inc., based in the Purdue Research Park of Northwest Indiana, lead South Shore Clean Cities.
“This annual meeting offers an opportunity for organizations to share information about current and potential energy projects to Northern Indiana leaders, agency officials and businesses,” said Carl Lisek, executive director. “South Shore Clean Cities and our members will speak about alternative fuel, advanced vehicle and infrastructure projects, potential projects and other successes achieved with the support of government leaders and industry. We will recognize several members for their outstanding projects, and we also will introduce several new opportunities for our members.”
