Love’s Travel Stops reopened its Gary location, which closed last year after a fire.

The Oklahoma City-based company tore down the old store and rebuilt it larger with 15,000 square feet of space, and it has more parking, according to a press release. The company also partnered with Naf Naf Middle Eastern Grill for its third Love's location. Godfather's Pizza is available at the location, too.

The Gary store at 3150 Grant St. employs 90 people, and includes 154 parking spaces for truckers and 97 car spaces. Open 24/7, it offers RV parking, nine showers, laundry facilities and a CAT scale.

The company also announced new locations in Jacksonville, Florida; New Boston, Texas; and Lafayette. The Lafayette location will bring 100 new jobs the area, along with 64 parking spaces for trucks.

“As we move into 2023, Love’s continues to be focused on providing customers with the amenities and customer service they expect when they stop at one of our locations,” said Shane Wharton, president of Love’s. “Reopening the Gary location and adding new stores in Jacksonville, New Boston and Lafayette strengthens our commitment to providing additional safe, clean and well-maintained locations, and getting customers back on the road quickly.”

Love's also made $2,000 donations to a nonprofit in each community, including Sojourner Truth House and Boys & Girls Club of Greater Northwest Indiana in Gary.

Family-owned Love's has more than 600 locations in 42 states and was founded in 1964. It's workforce tops 39,000 people.
