Mary Ann Shacklett is retiring as senior vice president and chief financial officer of the Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana.

Shacklett has been with the organization, parent of Community Healthcare System, for 36 years. Her retirement from the organization is effective July 9.

Organization representatives said a new CFO is being sought.

Shacklett has served in a variety of roles with the organization, from lower and mid-management posts to senior level.

During her career, she earned the Outstanding CPA in Business & Industry Award from the Indiana CPA Society, which recognizes a Certified Public Accountant in business and industry that has been instrumental in the success of their employer and/or made a notable entrepreneurial achievement.  

Shacklett also has been recognized for her work with CFNI and the hospitals of Community Healthcare System: Community Hospital, St. Catherine Hospital, St. Mary Medical Center and Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center as well as for service out in the community.

She was directly involved with the development of Community Hospital’s surgery center, the hospital’s cardiology center, Hartsfield Village Continuing Care Retirement Community and Community Hospital Fitness Pointe. She also led efforts to secure $174 million bond issue, the largest for the health system, and guided the organization to attain a Standard & Poor rating of AA-.

She has a bachelor’s degree in management with a major in accounting from Purdue University Krannert School of Management, West Lafayette and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Indiana University Northwest and is a certified public accountant.

Shacklett has served on the Indiana Hospital Association Council on Finance, Indiana University Northwest School of Business & Economics advisory board and the Caring Place board. She also holds memberships in the Indiana CPA Society, American Institute of CPAs and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
