NORTH JUDSON – Kemin Industries has opened in Starke County where it will process spearmint for flavoring and preservatives. The company employs 12 people.
The 7,000-square-foot plant will process 1,000 acres of mint, but eventually it hopes to expand the plant and process 4,000 acres of mint.
Kemin is based in Des Moines, Iowa. It has 1,500 employees worldwide with operations in 90 countries in Europe, South America and Asia.
