Matthew Etchison was named chief information officer for Ivy Tech Community College effective Jan. 1.
Etchison currently serves as vice president for information technology as part of the workforce alignment department for the college. The position is currently held by Anne Brinson, who will retire Dec. 31.
As chief information officer, Etchison will serve as the senior information technology administrator for Ivy Tech, providing visionary and operational leadership for strategic planning, implementation and improvement of technologies, solutions and related support services that closely align with the college.
“It is a tremendous honor to be named the chief information officer for Ivy Tech Community College,” said Etchison. “No other institution is so tightly embedded in the heart of every Indiana community and is accessible, affordable and able to transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of Hoosiers.”
Since Etchison’s time with Ivy Tech, he has developed multiple strategic IT partnerships with industry including: Google, Salesforce, Apple and Amazon Web Services. In total, more than 15 academic alliances have been made with Silicon Valley companies and IT multinationals to provide highly-sought after, industry-certified technical skills, to community college students.

He has also worked closely with our academic teams and his student-facing perspective will be critical as we continue to work toward our big goal of students earning 50,000 high-value credentials aligned with workforce needs annually.”
Etchison has a Master of Science in engineering management from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in business information systems from Indiana Wesleyan University.
