KNOX – Indiana University Health Starke Hospital has announced the rollout of the IU Health Radiology Cloud.
Josephine Klicek, director of diagnostic imaging, said the information system “will have a huge impact on continued care of the patients that are transferred to Indianapolis from IU Health Starke Hospital.”
The Cloud is intended to replace the use of CDs with radiology exams and instead send the exams electronically via the Internet. The transfer takes about 10 minutes, allowing the physicians at Indianapolis to view the exams before the patient is transported or in transport. Acute care can be planned well before the patient arrives at the receiving hospital. Klicek added, “No one should worry about the confidentiality of his or her images or medical information being sent via the Cloud. It’s a completely secure system that ensures complete compliance with all privacy laws and regulations. Our patients’ privacy is paramount at IU Health Starke Hospital and I can assure you that IU Health has taken exhaustive steps to ensure patient confidentiality.”
The Cloud costs less to run than the current practice of managing CDs. David Hyatt, president of IU Health Starke Hospital, said, “The new IU Health Radiology Cloud is just one more example of how IU Health and our hospital is continuing to lead the way for healthcare innovation.”
