INDOT Community CrossingsThe Indiana Department of Transportation will begin accepting applications for matching funds for shovel-ready local construction projects through Community Crossings beginning Monday, Aug. 6.

Community Crossings is the state’s local road and bridge matching grant program. The state has awarded $300 million in state funds through the program to support local road and bridge projects around the state since 2016.

Projects eligible for funding through the program include road resurfacing, bridge rehabilitation, road reconstruction, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance in connection with road projects. Material costs for chip sealing and crack filling operations also are eligible for funds, the state said.

Submitted projects will be evaluated based on need, traffic volume, local support, the impact on connectivity and mobility within the community, and regional economic significance, the state said.

Community Crossings is open to all local government units in Indiana.

Applications are due by Friday, Sept. 28 at 5 p.m. Communities receiving funding for projects will be notified by INDOT beginning in November.
