The mascots’ induction ceremony will be streamed online at noon on June 14.

Boomer with the NBA’s Indiana Pacers and Blue, the mascot of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, are among the four 2020 National Mascot Hall of Fame honorees who will be inducted in a virtual event at noon on June 14.

The Whiting-based mascot hall of fame announced the 2020 inductees in December. The others are Youppi!, the mascot for the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens and The Oriole Bird of MLB’s Baltimore Orioles.

The induction ceremony is being held online out of concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. The hall of fame made its decision prior to the state announcing its Back on Track plan will move to phase four on June 12, which further eases restrictions on public interaction and permits cultural, entertainment and tourism sites to open at 50% capacity.

Voting took place in October with 126,824 ballots cast to determine the 10 finalists out of 19 nominees. The four inductees were selected following two rounds of public voting as well as votes by MHOF members, and the executive committee.

The Mascot Hall of Fame is an interactive children’s museum that was created to entertain, educate and enthuse children, families and sports fans.
