Angela Zavesky, a registered nurse in the Franciscan St. Anthony Health-Michigan City Medical-Surgical unit, received the hospital’s 2014 St. Camillus Award from Anil Chawla, M.D., during a general medical staff meeting in May. The award, which has been presented since 2010 and is named for Camillus, patron saint of nurses, is presented following medical staff nominations. Chawla, hospital vice president of medical affairs, said “all the doctors and patients love Angie; she is always pleasant and ready to help.” Zavesky, who has been in her position four years, said she was “shocked, surprised and grateful” to receive the honor, adding, “I am a people person and love interacting with patients and their families. We get to see people go from being sick to becoming healthy again. It is very, very rewarding.”
