GARY – Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson has been named a 2012 Newsmaker by the Chicago Defender. For 107 years, the Chicago Defender has been a key voice for African Americans in Chicago and across the country.
“I am deeply humbled to receive this award and have a dedicated team known as Team Gary to tank for the successes that we have made thus far,” said Freeman-Wilson. “Gary’s best days are ahead of her and with this paper’s great support I now count the Chicago Defender as an honorary member of Team Gary.”
