LAPORTE – Free screenings, a chance to interact with physicians and providers, and delicious “cancer-busting” appetizers are the highlights of the Cervical Cancer Awareness Event, from 2-6 p.m., Jan. 29 at the IU Health Community Health Center, 400 Teegarden St., La Porte.

Registration is required for the cervical cancer screening and clinical breast exam by calling 219-325-7648. During the event, women will have the rare opportunity of receiving free screenings, plus interacting with women’s healthcare providers.

“This is a great way for women in our community to get set on a healthy track for their annual health visits. If you have your screenings now, you can have the results provided to your primary care provider and follow up as needed. If you don’t have a primary care provider, we’ll be able to connect you with one, and get you on your way to starting a healthy 2015,” said Maddie Spoljoric, community engagement specialist at IU Health La Porte Hospital.
