SOUTH BEND — Downtown South Bend Inc. (DTSB) is introducing themed weekends to Downtown for the Holidays throughout the month of December. Through partnership with Mahoney Family Dentistry, increased programming will be present throughout downtown during this upcoming weekend of December 15th – December 17th.
The programming will include the usual visits with Santa on the Gridiron, Gingerbread Village and cookie decorating in the South Bend Museum of Art, but also extend into a Grown-Up Movie Night and Holiday Fitness Fest, along with other activities making for a weekend full of fun and entertainment.
Deck the Downtown Weekend Activities:
Cookie Decorating, Gingerbread Village and DTSB Merchandise (South Bend Museum of Art) Offering free cookie decorating, activities and the chance to view the Gingerbread Village entries, along with unique gift ideas and DTSB merchandise in the The Dot Shop. Hours match those for Visits with Santa.
Festival of Trees (Studebaker Plaza) View holiday trees decorated by local sponsors and vote for your favorite on Facebook.
Grown Up Movie Night (Four Winds Field Pepsi Stadium Club) Special 21+ screening of the holiday classic “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” on the video board at Four Winds Field on Friday 12/15. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Admission is $10 but drinks and snacks will be available for an additional cost.
Holiday Fitness Fest (Beacon Health & Fitness) A morning of free fitness classes at the downtown Beacon Health & Fitness on Saturday 12/16. Try one or many of the classes offered. Class space is limited and advance registration is recommended but not required.
Jingle Jams Concert (The Gridiron) Free holiday concerts by StarHeart (2 – 3 p.m.) and Trivial Nonsense (3 – 4 p.m.) on Saturday 12/16.
Tree and Wreath Sales (The Gridiron) A variety of free, locally-grown trees and wreaths will be for sale with profits benefitting local nonprofits. Hours match those for Visits with Santa.
Visits with Santa (Santa’s House on the Gridiron) Each child who visits Santa will received a special “I Believe” sticker that will allow them to receive discounts and trinkets in downtown South Bend. Hours are Friday from 5 – 9 p.m., Saturday from 12 – 6 p.m. and Sunday from 12 – 4 p.m.
Note weather, Santa will be located inside the South Bend Chocolate Café.
