The Marshall County Economic Development Corp. has a new president and CEO.

The organization announced Dax Norton’s appointment Nov. 25. He spent the past two years working as municipal operations/economic development consultant for MS Consultants in Indianapolis.

“We conducted a national search for our president/CEO position and were impressed by the leadership qualities that Dax will bring to his new role in Marshall County,” Bill Davis, MCEDC chair, said in a statement.

Norton spent nearly 20 years working in municipal government and economic development. Before joining MS Consultants, he worked for the Town of Whitestown and Boone County as well as other economic development roles.

He is a graduate of Ball State University and holds a certificate from the Oklahoma University Economic Development Institute. Norton is expected to start his new role before the end of December.

Norton replaces Jerry Chavez who resigned from the post in the fall after serving the role for six years. Chavez now is director of the Delta Council Development Department in Stoneville, Mississippi.
