Corsicana Mattress Co. will host a ribbon cutting for its new La Porte County factory March 16.

The event will be at 1 p.m. at the company’s new 165,000-square-foot facility at 755 S 500 West in Pinola, near La Porte. Company executives will be joined by area leaders and community members.

The facility will house the company’s domestic boxed bed manufacturing and could employ 350 by 2023. A spokesperson for the company said 30 employees have been hired so far.

Corsicana is expected to produce more than 1,500 domestically made boxed beds daily at the Pinola site, which will help reduce wait times and implement same-day shipping, company representatives said. Corsicana manufactures five brands – NightsBridge, Early Bird, Renue, American Bedding and Sleep Inc.

The company said its new location improves its proximity to bedding suppliers and logistics companies.

Texas-based Corsicana announced in August 2020 plans to invest $8.6 million in a new production facility in La Porte County. The company has operated out of a temporary site in Michigan City for hiring and training new employees.

Corsicana operates a 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Aurora, Illinois. The factory in Illinois produces traditional, flat-packed mattresses and will continue operations after the Pinola facility opens.

Corsicana was founded in 1971 in Corsicana, Texas, south of Dallas. It employs about 950 people in the U.S.
