South Bend-based Advantage Materials Handling Group has been acquired by Wolter Inc. of Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Wolter announced its purchase of Advantage was its 12th acquisition the past decade, giving it 16 locations. Advantage, also has a divisional office in Goshen.

Advantage, founded in 1968, is a full-service forklift and material handling dealership, which provides equipment sales and service, parts and rentals, dock equipment, and storage solutions throughout northern Indiana.

“This partnership not only further expands our footprint across Indiana and the Midwest, but also strengthens our product and solution offerings with a highly experienced and capable team to back our rapid growth,” said Jerry Weidmann, president of Wolter Inc.

Advantage has three brands, Balint/Ryder Handling Equipment, BT Battery & Charger Systems and BT Equipment Services & Parts, which now will operate as Wolter.

Advantage will continue to offer its current products and solutions – including but not limited to forklifts, dock equipment, pallet rack systems, conveyors and more, Wolter said. Expansion into Indiana gives the company a broader footprint for its Kion North America’s Linde and Baoli lines of electric, gas and LP forklifts.

Wolter is an integrated industrial equipment distributor and productivity solutions provider, with more than 20,000 industrial, construction and commercial customers in Wisconsin, Upper Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky and Missouri. Wolter has more than 460 employees.
