LAPORTE – American Licorice, the maker of Red Vines candy, will invest $10 million to renovate its 285,000-square-foot plant in LaPorte.
When the project is finished in 2015, it will increase employment from 150 to 185. The project includes installation of a new licorice production line. To supply the plant with raw material, a new rail spur will be constructed.
The project is getting a $200,000 boost from the Indiana Economic Development Corp. through tax credits based on anticipated hiring.
