A recent acquisition will help Midwest-based architecture and engineering firm Shive-Hattery expand into the Pacific Northwest.

Helix Design Group is a 24-person architecture, interior design and graphic design firm in Tacoma, Washington. Shive-Hattery and Helix Design Group share design experience with clients in the commercial, government, health care and industrial markets.

“The cultural harmony shared between Shive-Hattery and Helix Design Group is a direct result of the value we place on our long-term client relationships,” said Jennifer Bennett, Shive-Hattery president, in a press release. “We invest in our employees knowing they’ll take great care of our clients.”

Helix Design Group will keep its name, and become a division of Shive-Hattery. Bruce McKean, Helix Design Group’s managing principal, will continue as leader of the Tacoma office.

“Becoming part of a larger network means we’ll be able to provide our clients with enhanced architectural and engineering capabilities and solutions along with expanded career opportunities for our staff,” McKean said.

Based in Iowa, Shive-Hattery has 16 offices in Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Wisconsin and Washington. Shive-Hattery’s Indiana offices are in South Bend and Valparaiso. Founded in 1895, the firm has 550 employees.
