SOUTH BEND – The St. Joseph County Board of Zoning Appeals has approved a development project for South Bend’s West Side that will result in $2 million in improvements to the Martin’s Plaza on Western Avenue. A new roof will be added to the building, along with a new façade, new signs and new lighting.

GARY – The Gary Airport Authority has awarded its final runway expansion contract for signal and track work to Railworks Track Service of LaPorte. The company is part of Railworks Corp. of New York City. The work calls for installing ballast, railroad ties, track and signals for the realignment of track through the airport. Work
INDIANAPOLIS – Pollina Corporate Real Estate of Park Ridge, Ill., recently completed a study assessing the economic climate in 32 states and Indiana was rated fifth best in the U.S. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. said Indiana’s pro-business climate was the reason, including the passage of right-to-work legislation this past session by the General Assembly.
HAMMOND – The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced that work to replace the nine-span bridge on Indianapolis Boulevard in East Chicago will likely take place next year. The bridge has been rated in poor condition by INDOT and was repaired eight years ago. The replacement is part of the work being done to expand
WHITING – The next phase of construction at the BP refinery in Whiting is expected to be completed by the end of 2013. To complete the project, BP said it will shut down part of the refinery in the fourth quarter of this year to reconfigure three of the crude units. At the same time,
