Financial compromise

Crown Point native opens BooXkeeping franchise

Driven by a passion to help businesses find financial clarity, Amber Bol discovered early on that she had a knack for business.

So much so that the Crown Point native and former project manager recently launched her own bookkeeping franchise called BooXkeeping in Northwest Indiana.

“We’re doing well,” Bol said. Clients are signing up, she said, and her business is ready for the tax season, bookkeeping, accounting and much more. Bol works from an office in Valparaiso and from home.

“It keeps costs low, and I like working with Zoom clients as well,” Bol said.

It all adds up for the 36-year-old who got her Bachelor of Arts from Purdue University and an MBA from Valparaiso University and then left for the City of the Big Shoulders.

Once there, she flourished and discovered her love of invoicing accounts receivable and accounts payable payroll.

“When I was working in Chicago for an engineering firm, our CFO left without warning, and I had a knack for invoicing,” Bol said. “They gave me the CFO’s job temporarily and then gave it to me permanently.”

Life happened, and Bol got married and found herself with two toddlers. It was time to come home to Northwest Indiana.

When she left her high-profile job in Chicago, she looked around the Region for the same kind of position she left. But, she could not find an equivalent in the area. So, she started BooXkeeping, which launched Nov. 1 as a resource for local businesses or people who just need help with their bookkeeping activities.

“It’s sure to bring peace of mind,” said Gabrielle Gianino, who works with the BooXkeeping franchise.

According to its website, BooXkeeping franchises let owners join established teams that include branding, training, procedures, access to qualified labor and more. It makes the franchisee more streamlined and efficient. The franchise also is affordable and cost effective.

“They provide everything you need,” Bol said.

According to Entrepreneur Magazine, BooXkeeping is an innovative franchise that mixes human connections with accounting expertise. The company has been named to the 2024 Top New & Emerging Franchises List.

Bol agreed. She said she is both introverted and has a love of people.

Going out on her own has been scary, and it is a big deal, she said. So far, she said, she is happy she did.
