MERRILLVILLE – TradeWinds Services recently hosted their 20th annual fundraising Gala in the Celebrity Ballroom in the Radisson at Star Plaza. CEO Jon Gold reported the event raised over $54,000.

This year’s committee chose a “Ports of Call” adventure and offered the cuisines of Genoa, Hong Kong, Barcelona, London, New York and Marseille at food stations set up throughout the room.

The silent auction, one of the new elements added this year, offered a wide range of items including jewelry, spa days, signed sports memorabilia, an escorted half day tour of U.S. Steel, and original fashions designed and sewn by TradeWinds consumer/employee Migail Guiden.

TradeWinds has worked with children and adults with disabilities for almost 50 years in Gary. To expand both services and outreach the organization recently acquired a new facility in Hobart which is currently under reconstruction. Once completed, TradeWinds Services will move their entire operation to that location.
