Lu Carole West, a former senior director and assistant general counsel of Eli Lilly and Co., has joined Ice Miller LLP as one of the leaders of the law firm's Government Enforcement, Investigations and Corporate Compliance practice.

West, who retired from Eli Lilly after a 25-year career, held many positions, including the head of Eli Lilly's litigation and legal compliance organization where she was responsible for global litigation, federal and state investigations, Congressional inquiries and privileged internal investigations. She also provided legal counsel to the Lilly Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management organization, including providing legal advice to the chief compliance officer on the company's compliance and enterprise risk management program, a corporate integrity agreement and government consent decrees.
West graduated cum laude from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. Prior to joining Eli Lilly, West had been in private practice for several years, had served as a law clerk for the Indiana Court of Appeals and was on the staff of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Small Business.
