SOUTH BEND – The University of Notre Dame has announced it will open a Center for Low Energy Systems Technology through a $30 million grant over the next five years from the Semiconductor Research Corp. and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
Joining Notre Dame in operation of the center will be Purdue University, Carnegie-Mellon, Georgia Tech, Penn State, University of California-Berkeley, University of California-Santa Barbara, University of California-San Diego, University of Texas-Austin, and University of Texas-Dallas.
The goal of the center is to research new material and systems that can lower voltage operation – and heat – for electronics.
