Wintrust's new Gary branch is more than a banking center. It will help welcome the many members who enter the Crossroads YMCA's lobby.
The branch is part of the Tolleston Opportunity Campus, which includes the Y, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana, Methodist Hospitals and Juice Jung Café.
The new location at 1771 Taney Place is a branch of Old Plank Trail Community Bank, a Wintrust community bank.
“Opening a branch within the Crossroads YMCA gives us a unique opportunity to become part of the everyday lives of people in the Gary community,” said Tim Lovell, chief executive officer of Old Plank Trail Community Bank, in a press release. “Whether it’s a parent bringing their child to practice, or a senior coming in for an early morning class, we’ll be right there.”
The $50 million Tolleston Opportunity Campus in Gary broke ground in May 2025. A ceremony Sept. 2 celebrated the completion of the 70,000-square-foot YMCA.
Wintrust Gary will include traditional banking services and financial wellness resources. The space also includes a community room for local organizations.
Rosemont, Illinois-based Wintrust was founded in 1991. It has more than 200 locations in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan. Wintrust Indiana is part of the Old Plank Trail Community Bank system.
