Chamber names CAPTRUST No. 1 Best Place to Work in Indiana

The Indiana Chamber of Commerce revealed the rankings for the Best Places to Work in Indiana during a dinner May 13. CAPTRUST landed the No. 1 spot in the major companies category.

Employers received the red carpet treatment, especially those who earned the No. 1 spot in the five award categories.

CAPTRUST, which has a Chesterton office, was among 11 companies listed in the category, which includes businesses with 1,000 or more employees. CAPTRUST offers investment advisory services.

While CAPTRUST took the top slot, Land O'Frost and Centier Bank were listed No. 5 and 6, respectively in the category. The Kendall Group, which has a location in La Porte was ranked No. 11.

Land O'Frost has been selling premium sliced meats since 1941 and has 1,500 employees. It moved its corporate headquarters from Illinois to Munster in 2014.

Centier Bank was founded in 1895, and now has more than 60 offices in 35 communities. It employs more than 1,000 associates.

The Kendall Group is a wholesale supplier of products, services and solutions for manufacturers, contractors, machine builders and utilities.

Rankings were announced in five categories.

“We’re proud to celebrate 150 Hoosier employers that consistently put their people first,” said Indiana Chamber President and CEO Vanessa Green Sinders in a press release. “It’s inspiring to highlight the ways each organization is innovating and intentionally fostering workplace cultures that improve employees’ lives. Seeing the emphasis on meaningful amenities, open dialogue and well-rounded support is incredibly encouraging – and offers a strong model for what’s possible.”

Other top winners included:

  • JA Benefits, a Bedford-based employee benefits company – small category (between 15 and 34 U.S. employees)
  • CSpring, an IT services and consulting company in Indianapolis – small-medium category (between 35 and 74 U.S. employees)
  • E-gineering Inc., a custom software solutions provider in Indianapolis – medium category (between 75 and 249 U.S. employees)
  • McGohan Brabender, an Indianapolis-based benefits broker – large category (between 250 and 999 U.S. employees)

Winners were determined by the Workforce Research Group using in-depth employee surveys and employer reports. Participating companies also received an in-depth evaluation based on employee responses.
