Opportunity Enterprises shares 3-year plan

Opportunity Enterprises' three-year strategic plan focuses on building a roadmap for inclusive living for people of all abilities.

“For more than five decades, OE has worked to maximize independence and enrich lives,” said Neil Samahon, president and CEO of Opportunity Enterprises. “What is new is OE’s strategy designed to meet today’s challenges and create a future where every person belongs. This plan focuses on expanding essential services, strengthening our workforce, and building inclusive spaces where every person is valued.”

The plan focuses on five initiatives that address challenges and opportunities for the Valparaiso nonprofit:

  • Expand vocational, residential and health services while influencing statewide systems and policy
  • Build a thriving workplace culture that empowers staff and strengthens retention
  • Leverage technology and streamlined systems to maximize performance
  • Educate and engage the community on the value of inclusion
  • Diversify revenue to ensure long-term success

The organization cites increased demand, shortages in the regional workforce and funding issues as reasons to execute the plan. Input from the community, including those OE serves, staff members and partners, helped to formulate the plan.

“Shaping tomorrow requires all of us,” Samahon said. “We will continue to keep our constituents, partners and community informed as we turn this vision into action.”

OE employs about 400 people who help 1,400 clients each year. Learn more about OE's three-year plan here.
