IU Northwest sees growth

For the first time in over a decade, Indiana University Northwest has experienced a substantial increase in its enrollment numbers.

The campus’s headcount is up 7.2% year-over-year, reaching 3,260 students this fall. From 2023 to 2024, enrollment at IU Northwest remained stable with over 3,000 students.

For the second straight year, the campus saw an increase in credit hours, up 8.8% to 38,597. There was also an 8.6% increase in full-time equivalent, indicating students are taking larger course loads.

“At IU Northwest, we are thrilled to welcome one of the largest groups of new students in more than a decade, and we are equally grateful to our returning students who continue to see the value of pursuing their education with us,” said Arrick Jackson, IU Northwest chancellor, in a press release.

The positive trends at IU Northwest are in line with positive trends across the entire Indiana University system. IU saw a record 25,308 new undergraduate and graduate students enroll this fall. IU Online surpassed 10,000 enrolled students for the first time.

“These increases reflect not only the trust students place in IU Northwest to provide a high-quality education, but also the resilience and dedication of our community,” Jackson said. “Together, our new and returning students are strengthening the vibrant campus culture that makes IU Northwest such an exceptional place to learn and grow.”
