Valpo Parks selected Florida-based Sports Facilities Co. as owner’s representative for the redevelopment of the former McGill Factory at 909 Lafayette St.
The collaboration marks a step forward in bringing an indoor recreation and enrichment campus to the Valparaiso community.
As owner's representative, Sports Facilities will provide oversight throughout the project’s planning, design and construction phases. The next step in the process will be for Valpo Parks and Sports Facilities to issue a Request for Proposals for a qualified design-build firm.
The proposed project envisions transforming the 16-acre site, including its 225,000-square-foot industrial building, into the Valpo Recreation & Enrichment Campus. The facility is slated to offer diverse programming, including dedicated spaces for sports, community events, rental opportunities and educational activities.
“This partnership with Sports Facilities Companies is a testament to our commitment to delivering a world-class indoor recreational solution for Valparaiso,” said Kevin Nuppnau, Valpo Parks director, in a press release. “Their extensive experience in developing and managing premier sports and recreation facilities aligns perfectly with our vision for Valpo REC.”
Valpo Parks anticipates opening the new facility in fall 2027.
