Burns Harbor-based Allegius Credit Union appointed Chandra Ostrander as vice president of human resources and training.
Ostrander will oversee human resources, including recruitment, employee relations, organizational development and training. She also will play a key role in promoting a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the organization.
Ostrander brings more than 20 years of experience in operational management, employee engagement and staff development to her new role. She previously served in senior roles at the Portage Township YMCA, Real Life Community Church and Horizon Bank.
Ostrander earned a bachelor’s degree in business and human resources and a master’s degree in organizational management.

Ostrander expressed her excitement about joining the Allegius team.

Allegius Credit Union was founded in 1966 as Bethlehem Employees Federal Credit Union. Its field of membership included Bethlehem Steel Corp. employees who worked in Burns Harbor and Local 6787 United Steelworkers of America members. Later renamed Allegius Credit Union, the bank has locations in Michigan City, Burns Harbor, Valparaiso and Hobart.
