Indiana University Northwest’s Economic Development Academy is kicking off another module Jan. 15.
Led by IU Northwest’s School of Business and Economics, the academy focuses on regional economic development. The seven-week program aims to connect economic development approaches with practice using research, case studies, guest speakers and discussions.
Program topics will include:
- Tax structure, local public services and incentives policies: A review of tax objectives, administration and types to encourage regional economic growth.
- Benefit-cost analysis: A primer on analyzing the benefits and cost of policy decisions and how to calculate the net benefits of such policies.
- Business incentives and financing: A review of best practices in policy and tax incentives to promote investment and growth.
The Economic Development Academy will take place Jan. 15 through Feb. 26. The program will be a hybrid of in-person and virtual sessions. In-person sessions will take place at IU Northwest in Gary. Learn more here.
Completion of the module starting Jan. 15 will include a digital certificate of completion. The Economic Development Academy has four modules. Completion of all four modules can be stacked into a certificate of economic development training.
The Economic Development Academy program is funded by community partners and a grant from NIPSCO and the NiSource Charitable Foundation.
