Hitachi Global Air Power names new VP

Michigan City-based Hitachi Global Air Power appointed Andy Fayyad vice president operations effective Nov. 11.

Fayyad will be responsible for continuing the company’s operations transformation at the Sullair air compressor manufacturing facility in Michigan City.

“Andy’s extensive experience and commitment to operational excellence make him an ideal fit for our team,” said John Randall, Hitachi Global Air Power president and CEO, in a press release. “With his deep expertise in quality assurance and strategic planning, Andy is well-equipped to support our growth strategy and strengthen our commitment to world-class quality and manufacturing.”

Fayyad brings more than 34 years of experience in the industrial manufacturing space to his new role. Prior to joining Hitachi, Fayyad worked at General Motors Powertrain Group. He oversaw production facilities in Asia and the U.S. and led engineering, program management and sourcing programs.

Fayyad’s experience also includes leadership roles at Xylem Corporation in Singapore where he spearheaded emerging markets. He has international management experience leading teams in China, South Korea, Germany, France, India and the U.S.

“I am joining Hitachi Global Air Power at an exciting time – the company has been boldly modernizing their manufacturing operations to world-class levels,” Fayyad said.

Fayyad earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in control systems engineering from Oakland University.

Hitachi Global Air Power is an industrial compressed air manufacturer. The company serves manufacturing operations around the globe from food and beverage to pharmaceuticals and computer chips. Its portable compressors are used in construction and mining and production. As part of Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems, Hitachi Global Air Power operates factories in Michigan City and Suzhou, China. It has sales offices in Europe, Australia, Southeast Asia, and South and Latin America.
