The League of American Bicyclists recognized Purdue Federal Credit Union with a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Business award.

The award earns Purdue Federal a place alongside over 1,300 businesses nationwide working to build a more bicycle friendly America.

“We’re thrilled to recognize this round of new and renewing Bicycle Friendly Businesses that are not just supporting cycling but are actively weaving it into the fabric of their communities,” said Bill Nesper, League of American Bicyclists executive director, in a press release. “When businesses invest in better biking, they invest in people—employees, customers and community members alike.”

Nesper called Purdue Federal a shining example of how businesses can lead by example, making biking more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Purdue Federal has infrastructure that allows employees to make the choice to bike safely to and from work. Bicycle lanes, sidewalks and trails are located throughout the area. As part of wellness efforts, Purdue Federal has competitions and giveaways throughout the year to encourage employees to bike to work when they can.

Purdue Federal Credit Union was founded on Purdue University’s West Lafayette campus in 1969. Purdue Federal’s membership base includes students, faculty and staff and communities where Purdue University and its regional campuses operate. The credit union has over 100,000 members nationwide.

Since 1880, the League of American Bicyclists has worked to make bicycling safer and easier as a means of transportation and recreation. The league has over 200,000 members. Its supporters include over 1,000 state and local advocacy groups, bike clubs, businesses and universities.
