Fronius USA, which has a manufacturing facility in Portage, will showcase a new inverter for household solar systems at a conference this week.

An inverter converts the direct current electricity a solar panel generates to the alternating current electricity the electrical grid uses.

The new inverter, the Fronius GEN24 Plus, also enables energy storage and usage. It can connect to a battery system. It allows users to store excess solar energy and use it when needed.

The inverter has backup power options to ensure that homes or businesses will continue to be powered in the event of a grid failure. This feature will help users to reduce reliance on the grid.

The new inverter also features technology to help ensure the highest possible energy yield when some of the solar panels are shaded. It has cooling technology, which is critical in hot climates.

Fronius’ new hybrid solar inverter will have battery compatibility with China-based BYD’s BYD HVM 11.0 to 19.3 kW capacities. BYD is China’s top electric vehicle producer.

Fronius will present the Fronius GEN24 Plus at the RE+ 2024 conference in Anaheim, California. The RE+ conference brings together leaders and innovators in the clean energy industry. Fronius will officially launch the new inverter Nov. 18.

Fronius Solar Energy develops products that generate, store, distribute and consume solar energy. The company’s products are sustainably developed and produced primarily in Austria. Fronius Solar Energy has 28 branches around the world.
