Children started attending the new Geminus Head Start Porter County Early Learning Academy on Aug. 22.

The Geminus Head Start hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of its new Valparaiso facility. The early learning academy will provide school readiness services for young children from low-income families, in turn to help break the cycle of poverty.

Vavrek Architects designed the new space. The commercial architecture firm serves Northwest Indiana and the greater Chicago area.

“Projects like this are particularly gratifying in that we are able to contribute our expertise to help our clients fulfill a mission much larger than any building,” said Thomas Vavrek, principal architect, in a press release.

Geminus partners with health care providers, social service organizations and early childhood education programs to help increase access to social health care for children and families across the Region. Geminus is a member of the Regional Care Group.
