Regional business leaders and educators will gather July 17 for the unveiling of the State of the Workforce Report.

The biannual report is expected to reveal issues, strengths and trends impacting Northwest Indiana’s economy for years.

The State of the Workforce Report is prepared by the Center of Workforce Innovations. It is presented by the Northwest Indiana Workforce Board. The report collects and analyzes demographic, wage and education data from the seven-county Region.

In recent years, workforce development has experienced shifts across the country, including Northwest Indiana. Regional stakeholders can get a first look at the report and contribute to a plan that benefits Northwest Indiana.

“To respond to ever-changing needs and demands, workers and employers alike are seeking economic regeneration,” said Lisa Daugherty, Center of Workforce Innovations president and CEO, in a press release.

The 2024 State of the Workforce presentation and breakfast is July 17 at Avalon Manor in Merrillville. Learn more about the event here.

“This event serves as a great opportunity to foster integration by gathering those who are most capable of empowering the Region’s economy together in one place,” Daugherty said.

The Northwest Indiana Workforce Board is based in Valparaiso. The board is comprised of business, education, labor, community, faith-based and economic development leaders. They work together to develop the workforce in the Region.

The Valparaiso-based Center of Workforce Innovations is a nonprofit workforce development organization. The center promotes community and business investment in workforce, education and economic development building. It provides career advising, credit recovery programming and operates community learning centers for adults.
