Muncie-based First Merchants Bank recently promoted Carrie Valek, Steve Harris and Joe Peterson to executive vice president.
Valek, Harris and Peterson most recently served as executives.
“We are thrilled to announce the well-deserved promotions of Carrie Valek, Steve Harris and Joe Peterson to executive vice president,” said Mike Stewart, First Merchants Bank president, in a press release. “Each of them has played a pivotal role in our company's growth and success, and we are confident they will continue to make significant contributions in their new leadership positions.”
Valek was promoted to executive vice president, president of consumer banking. She joined First Merchants in 2012. Valek has nearly 25 years of banking experience with 12 years at First Merchants as a senior leader. She will oversee 116 banking center network and retail operations.
Harris will serve as executive vice president and chief human resources officer. In his new role, he will lead the company’s human resources initiatives, including talent acquisition and development, employee relations and engagement.
Peterson will assume the role of executive vice president, president of commercial banking. He will spearhead the growth of the bank’s commercial division. Peterson has over two decades of experience in commercial finance.
