Anthony “Tony” Oss was honored with the Life Saver Award at the Construction Advancement Foundation/Northwest Indiana Business Round Table Awards banquet on May 9.
The CAF/NWIBRT Awards celebrate regional construction and recognize industry achievements. The Life Saver Award honors an individual who has demonstrated heroism and skill in saving or attempting to save a life, regardless of their own safety, either at or away from work.
Oss received the award for his quick thinking July 18, 2023. In addition to his role as director of pre-construction and design services at Larson-Danielson and Facet Architecture, Oss is the linebacker coach for the La Porte High School Slicers football team.
While with the La Porte team at Trine University in Angola, Oss provided life-saving efforts to a man in cardiac arrest. Oss’ efforts, coupled with those of Trine’s athletic trainer and first responders in Angola, helped to save the man's life.
“We are immensely proud to have a hero like Tony on our team and in our community,” said Nick Larson, vice president of Larson-Danielson, in a press release. “His well-deserved recognition is a testament to his exceptional skills, courage and commitment to service. We are grateful for his outstanding contributions to our team and for setting a shining example of bravery and quick thinking.”
Oss also earned a Letter of Commendation from the La Porte County sheriff's office for his life-saving actions.
