A jewelry collection designed by Merrillville-native Kayla Malecc recently dropped in Spencer’s stores around the country.

To celebrate, Spencer’s at Southlake Mall in Merrillville is hosting a meet and greet with Malecc. The event will take place from noon to 3 p.m. May 4. The first 200 attendees will receive a signed poster and a Kayla bracelet.

The Kayla Malecc Jewelry Collection features 21 styles of body jewelry. Malecc is a social media influencer and TikTok star with over 15 million social media followers. Malecc has several piercings but is most recognized for her triple-nose piercings.

“We are thrilled to work with Kayla to create our first-ever body jewelry collaboration between a brand and an influencer,” said Nikki Balles, senior director of PR for Spencer’s, in a press release. “Her unique style, deep passion for piercings, and energy for our brand align perfectly with Spencer’s where we celebrate and welcome all.”

Malecc first reached out to Spencer’s because she was looking for a piercing kit that matched her style and couldn’t find anything on the market.

“I’ve shopped at Spencer’s stores ever since I got my first piercing, and the fact that they acknowledged me and brought this idea to life through a collaboration collection is super exciting,” Malecc said.

Spencer’s sells jewelry, apparel, T-shirts, drinkware and other items. The company was founded in 1947 as a mail-order catalog in Pennsylvania. Spencer’s opened its first brick-and-mortar store in 1963, and currently has 680 retail locations.
